Bruce Paul Fink Bust of Aboriginal Man (1958)
Renowned artist and sculptor Bruce Paul Fink created this bust, "Aboriginal Man" in 1958. This is one of Fink's earliest pieces and a rare example of his budding genius when he was in his early twenties and fresh out of art school. The piece was purchased by Helen & Esten Spurrier of Davenport, Iowa at the Park Forest, Illinois Art Fair in 1959 from the artist. Mr. Fink was in the early stages of a celebrated career in sculpting, mixed-media painting and décor, and contemporary architectural designs. The Spurriers kept the piece in their private collection until they passed on and their Grandson has preserved the bust for more than 30 years.
Mr. Fink now resides in Connecticut and has enjoyed a long career of creating outdoor sculptures, architectural elements and other creative items from his foundry. His creations are found in noted museums, public buildings and collections worldwide. He also has taught in various fora throughout his career.
The bust is about 14 inches high and weighs about 40 lbs.
The bust appears to be made of composite metallic and other materials. It is signed "Fink" on the inside of the base, which is shown in photo.
