Charles Lotton Fuchsia Multiflora Bowl (1998)
This incredible Fuchsia Multiflora Bowl will be the centerpiece of your formal table, or establish the quality and palette of your room's décor. It is the apogee of his Multiflora art and is of museum quality.
Charles Lotton created this in 1998. It graced our own Dining Room Table for many years... often with a floral piece added. He urged me to purchase it and I had no idea that he would not be making any more of this type.
This period was one of my favorites for Charles' work... he shows the height of his skills in combining colors and letting the multiflora flowers develop as he turned the puntil in the kiln. Wild colors, incredible multiflora blooms going crazy; if you witnessed him making such a piece, you would find it remarkable that he could intuit how the glowing dark glass would emerge after days of being cured. How he could envision the interactions and layers of color development that would result is a secret for the ages.
The piece is very heavy. It is a tribute to Charles' strength as well as artistic skill. It weighs about 11 lbs and is about 9 inches high and 12 inches wide. And, it's a wild ride through the color palette.
