Victorian Gilded Pressed Glass Candy Dish (1890's)
This unusual Victorian Gilt Candy Dish is intricately fashioned and gilded to attract attention to whatever bon bon's you choose to offer your guests. Or maybe you put it in the bar or rec room and use it for mints.
It is molded glass that has been carefully decorated with gold accenting all over.
We found this in the Chicago area 50 years ago and have decided to offer it to another home or institution. It is not signed or marked, typical of an era when labels or other signage was meant to be washed off of such table ware.
It measures about 7 1/2 inches square and is about 2 1/2 inches deep. It weighs about 3 lbs. There is very little wear, indicating perhaps that it was mostly used decoratively and not for table or parlor use. And... it's about as blingy as things can get, with its beautiful gold accenting...
