Charles Lotton Blue, Cobalt & Iridescent Swirled King Tut Vase (2020)
This is a beauty King Tut Blue themed swirled Vase that dates from Charles Lotton's last years of production. It has beautiful swirls and iridescent glow that shines through the pearlescent field color of the overall vase.
Charles Lotton, the glass master, signed this vase for me personally in 2019 when we passed through Crete, Illinois to visit him. He let me make a video of him signing this vase — and actually made the first "typo" I am aware of when he signed his name and engraved the date as "1919" rather than "2019."
The vase is a museum-quality work of art. It is contemporary and classically inspired at the same time. One of Charles' favorite themes was the King Tut striping, and it is a favorite theme found throughout his lifetime of beautiful creations.
From Fashion Time Warp: The Art Deco movement, known for its embrace of elegance and luxury, found a kindred spirit in Egyptomania. This artistic and design style was heavily influenced by the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb. The opulence and glamour of the Pharaoh’s treasures seamlessly integrated into the Art Deco aesthetic.
King Tut’s Influence on Fashion was evident in Art Deco’s geometric patterns and lavish ornamentation. Buildings, interior design, and even jewelry adopted the clean lines and luxurious materials synonymous with Art Deco. Tutankhamun’s legacy, with its shimmering gold and intricate details, became a cornerstone of this influential design movement...
The allure of Tutankhamun’s treasures transcended the canvas and found its way into interior design. Egyptian motifs adorned furnishings, wallpapers, and decor. Homes transformed into luxurious sanctuaries inspired by the grandeur of the Nile. The legacy of Egyptomania was woven into the very fabric of living spaces...
King Tut’s Influence on Fashion was evident in interior design’s opulent embrace of Egyptian symbolism. Luxurious fabrics, adorned with hieroglyphics and motifs, graced sofas and curtains. Statues and figurines reminiscent of ancient Egypt found their place in elegant homes. Tutankhamun’s symbolism added a touch of mystique to everyday living. It certainly inspired Charles Lotton in some of his most important works and we are rapidly running out of King Tut-themed items in our inventory.
Own this unique piece of the Charles Lotton Legacy while it is available. It will complement the most futuristic of design styles, or the most classic. The Vase is about 8 inches tall with a flared lip. It's about 6 inches at its widest, weighing around a pound-plus with an inner sleeve of pearlescent white.
