Charles Lotton Miniature Iridescent Silver/Blue Green Pulled Drape Vase (1982)

Charles Lotton's 1982 Miniature Early Iridescent Silver/Blue Green Pulled Drape Vase (1982) is a charming addition to any collection or perhaps in the right setting of a Mid-Century color palette room. Interesting green/gold base coloring is surrounded by Silver / Blue Pulled Drape patterns that include those "Mad Men" colors so sought after today: Turquoise, Cobalt, Chartreuse and hints of Aurene.

The Pulled Drape resembles patterns found on pp. 60-61 of Thomas and Lotton's Lotton Art Glass publication. This style eventually morphed into the signature Lotton "King Tut" style, but it is not quite as "loose" and is more in keeping with the Pulled Drape designation for this time period.

This is one unusual color for Charles, and an early piece. According to the authors of Lotton Glass: The Legacy, page 4:

"The complexity and subtle colors of Lotton Glass have already earned marks in artistic history. Art critics have predicted that over time Lotton Glass will surpass Tiffany and Steuben. Those well-known glass dynasties hired designers and craftsmen whose works were mostly mold-blown and signed with the studio name. Instead, Lotton Glass is blown, decorated and shaped by the artists' own hands, who date and sign their own names. Each artist is the final judge on what he creates."

Consider this piece now, there will be no more made by the Master, Charles Lotton, who passed away in September of 2021.
