TEPCO Montanari Grape & Vine Motif Enamel Kitchen Table & Set of 4 Chairs
Grandma's Kitchen is alive and well! Or Luke's Diner from the Gilmore Girls if you are a bit younger... We are offering a vintage (and very rare) signed TEPCO Montanari porcelain top kitchen table in superb condition. It also has four matching vintage chairs in the yellow and green color of the enamel. It features a drawer for flatware. We believe the underlying wood is maple. The table is in mint condition and has two side panels that deploy easily for expanded seating.
TEPCO (Technical Porcelain & Chinaware Company) was headquartered in El Cerrito, California (north of Berkeley) and began operations around 1930. They were best known for innovative ceramics and kitchenware. TEPCO collectors are a small but dedicated group who mostly collect the beautiful ceramic and "kitschy" dishes of the Depression Era. Imagine such beautiful ceramic kitchenware atop an actual TEPCO kitchen table!
These tables are in great demand and very hard to find. We have used the table since the 1980's and bought it in Western Maryland many years ago. There is very little wear on the enamel surfaces as it was used more for decorative purposes in our kitchen than actual dining.
This incredible 1930's enamel kitchen table was designed by TEPCO and signed by Montanari. It features an unusual grape and vine pattern and an elaborate center panel that is best described as Art Deco. The top is in excellent condition for its age and the table leaves are in excellent shape. The base is a medium finish with turned legs and a decorative piece in the center underneath.
This table is beautiful, functional, and has two side leaves that deploy to make it able to accommodate at least 6 seats. The set has four matching chairs. It can be picked up free or can be shipped by UPS or by us personally if within 100 miles of Washington, DC. With the leaves in, it measures about 40 inches long, 25 inches deep, and 32 inches high, and with the leaves out it is 40 inches wide and 47 inches deep. These beautiful scenic tables graced finer homes during the Great Depression and they remain very functional today. Buyer to pay actual shipping costs which can vary considerably from coast to coast.
