Daniel Lotton Fuchsia / Pink Fern Vase (1995)
Daniel Lotton's signature Fern design is a collector's and designer's delight. Intense Fuchsia, Pink and Purple colors ignite the room as lighting conditions change. From the must-read book Lotton Glass: The Legacy, the authors write (p. 158):
...One of Daniel's earliest threaded designs was Fern which he has used on bowls, vases and perfume bottles. Continuing his quest for more creative designs, Daniel first developed his Anthurium, then Tulipticus, his two-layer Cynthia flower (named for his wife), Christmas Cactus and other floral and threaded patterns. His designs have a flowing, romantic appeal.
The colors in this piece are some of our favorites... Intense pink threads resolve into deep fuchsias and purples, then return as the eye moves on to other parts of the piece. The vase is cased in clear crystal, which makes the signature block on the bottom hard to photograph. It is about 10 inches tall, 12 inches wide and weighs a hefty 5 lbs. or so. We purchased this and a companion piece in the mid-1990's and it has been a favorite in our living room for many years.
