Charles Lotton King Tut Cobalt, Green and Vine Striped Large Vase (1990)

SKU:  RSB-00037

Wow! Charles Lotton King Tut Cobalt, Green and Vine Striped Large Vase (1990) is a tour de force in any place it visits. The wild striping and iridescent Blue/Green/Black coloring of the waves makes one dizzy. It's a sentimental favorite for me as well, because Charles picked this Vase out for me during my last visit to him in Crete, Illinois in 2019.

Charles Lotton's color palette for the Vase is a visionary recap (for 1990) of Mid-Century Modern color schemes. The swirls include Turquoise, Cobalt, Chartreuse, White, Aventurine and hints of Aurene.

According to the authors of Lotton Glass: The Legacy:

"The complexity and subtle colors of Lotton Glass have already earned marks in artistic history. Art critics have predicted that over time Lotton Glass will surpass Tiffany and Steuben. Those well-known glass dynasties hired designers and craftsmen whose works were mostly mold-blown and signed with the studio name. Instead, Lotton Glass is blown, decorated and shaped by the artists' own hands, who date and sign their own names. Each artist is the final judge on what he creates."

Consider this piece now, there will be no more made by the Master, Charles Lotton, who passed away in September of 2021.

The Vase is about 11 inches high, 9 inches wide and weighs about 3 1/2 lbs.
