Fostoria Ruby Glass Vintage Fruit Bowl on Clear Pedestal (1950's)

This amazing Ruby Glass Pedestal Bowl can be used as a candy dish, fruit bowl, floral vase, or a goblet, depending upon your creativity. It's penetrating ruby glass lights up an entire room. The bowl's rich red color is doubtless enhanced by the actual gold that was used as part of the ruby glass formulae created by American glassmakers like Fostoria and Fenton. The piece is unsigned. It may date it to earlier than the 1950's, since most earlier glass of this nature came with paper labels rather than etching or engraving. Years of washing and cleaning probably witnessed the demise of the label or labels that could identify it.

The Ruby Pedestal Bowl is about 10 inches high and 6 inches across. It has a delicate but durable twisted clear glass stem and footing. It is delicate, but weighs just over 2 lbs. Look how it catches sunlight and gives it back in the luminous shadow in our home!
