Murano-style Millefiori Green and White Flower Paperweight (1950s)

This vintage unsigned Murano-style Egg Shaped Millefiori Paperweight is a marvel of intricate spirals and floral caning. It is a perfect accessory for a high-end corporate office, or your library or home office. The intricate spirals and artifice of the caning is exceptional. Unfortunately, whatever label was once on it has been washed away by years of housekeeping — but our belief it that it is a Murano-style piece that found its way in some American tourist's luggage during the post WWII years. The colors are exceptionally bright, and the ease with which the spirals and caning are twisted shows the mastery that only a seasoned glass artist could execute without disaster striking.

The piece weighs about one pound, and has a clear glass dome structure that encases the fantastic flowers and canes. This exceptional piece may be recognized by paperweight connossieurs and was part of the Spurrier Estate, which dates its acquisition to some time in the 1950's or early 1960's.
