Patricia Crum "Off to the Horse Races" Oil Painting (1972)
Noted Midwest artist Patricia Crum was born in 1927 and passed away in Ohio in 2010. She was an award-winning painter who had a flair for capturing landscapes throughout the Northern Midwest, still life paintings, and action scenes from everyday life.
This still life was gifted to us by Phyllis Boege in the early 1970's (1973). Her impressionistic approach and innovative use of color brings a freshness and beauty to all that she perceives, and a deftness in execution that somehow reminds us of Japanese Calligraphy — often called "Shuji." The action of the horses and jockeys in this active painting captures a few seconds in time from what must have been an exciting race!
The painting is contained in a simple frame. It is about 2.5 inches thick. It measures about 12 inches wide and 10 inches high. It weighs about 2 lbs.
