Daniel Lotton Purple Iridescent Silver/Green Thread Fern Vase (1996)
Daniel Lotton's signature Fern design has remained a collector's and designer's delight. This iridized Purple / Lavender Silver/Gold Threaded Fern Vase has a mind of its own. It has some of the "punchiest" purples and lavenders we have ever seen in a Lotton piece.
From the must-read book Lotton Glass: The Legacy, the authors write (p. 158):
...One of Daniel's earliest threaded designs was Fern which he has used on bowls, vases and perfume bottles. Continuing his quest for more creative designs, Daniel first developed his Anthurium, then Tulipticus, his two-layer Cynthia flower (named for his wife), Christmas Cactus and other floral and threaded patterns. His designs have a flowing, romantic appeal.
The vase is about 8 inches tall, 7 inches wide and weighs a hefty 4 lbs. or so. We purchased this and a companion piece in the mid-1990's and it has been a favorite duo in our living room for many years.
