Mid-Century Modern Ice Blue Crackle Glass Drink Set (1960's)
This sedate ice blue Crackle Glass Mid-Century Set consists of a Pitcher and 6 Rock (or old-fashioned) glasses. The set itself is right out of "Mad Men." It is in mint condition and appears to have never been used. The beauty of this ice blue pale glass will be enhanced by a few ice cubes and something else poured on top of them...
The set is definitely Mid-Century Modern for those of us who remember, and its manufacturer could be a number of companies. It was found in West Virginia, still a center of mass-production glass. We believe it dates from the late 1960's but it could be from the 1970's as well. There is no identifying mark on these, suggesting that the set probably had paper labels that were washed off by fussy housekeepers.
Some of the companies that produced CRACKLE GLASS include: Blenko Glass Company, Pilgrim Glass Company, Mt. Washington Glass Company, H.C. Fry Glass Company, Boston & Sandwich Glass Company, Hobbs, Bruckunier & Company, Cambridge Glass Company, and Kanawha Glass Company. Some of these companies are still operating today, and yes, they are still making CRACKLE GLASS.
The pitcher is about 8 inches high, the glasses about 4 inches high. We estimate the total weight to be about 6 lbs. not including packaging.
